Who Developed Dianabol
The anabolic steroid Dianabol is a drug developed by Dr. John Ziegler and Ciba Pharmaceutical Co. in 1956. Ziegler was an American physician and pioneered the athletic use of Dianabol to aid the muscle growth of bodybuilders. He also administered said drug to U.S. weightlifting champion Bill Mark of the York Barbell club in 1959 when he was the physician of the U.S. Weightlifting team. Meanwhile, Ciba is a chemical company based in Basel, Switzerland. Ciba actually stands for Chemische Industrie Basel. The man behind who developed Dianabol has become very popular among athletes.
In most cases, Dianabol is taken orally as a pill but it can now be available in an injectable form. Dianabol steroids were banned in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA and it is a controlled substance in the U.S. and many other countries. But despite its ban, there are still some athletes more particularly bodybuilders who use this drug. This is because Dianabol will help them achieve quick and easy results in terms of increasing their bodiesí growth.
The steroids were first developed out of testosterone experiments in the beginning of the 20th century. By Word War II, the Nazis were trying to use steroids to make their soldiers stronger. Dianabol, on the other hand, grew out of earlier testosterone research. As mentioned in the opening of this article, Dr. Ziegler was the one who developed Dianabol. He developed this particular drug with the intention to give the U.S athletes the edge in every competition. This was actually just a response to the suspected use of testosterone of Russian athletes in bodybuilding and weightlifting competitions in the year 1960s.
In 1954, he administered testosterone for a period of less than 6 weeks to several high-level bodybuilders on an experimental basis. This experiment, however, yielded to negative results. Dissatisfied and overburdened with patients, he distanced himself from research into performance-enhancing drugs until May 1960 or possibly 1959.
Because of his suspicion on the Russians during the 1960 European Championships in Milan, he therefore asked John Grimek to propose to his chief, Bob Hoffman that steroids be administered to members of the American Olympic Team. Mr. Hoffman was then cautious and thought that it will not do much good and may even have detrimental effects on the athletes. Instead, Dianabol was given to two lower level lifters to know the effectiveness and safety of the drug. After the so-called experiment, Hoffman retracted his decision and decided that Dianabol be administered to certain weightlifters of the U.S. Team.
Because of the proliferation of steroid use among athletes, it was later on banned from the Olympics. And in 1980s, steroid use was banned from almost all sporting competitions. And in 1990, Dianabol steroids were made illegal in the United States. Dianabol, an anabolic steroid, has the capacity of rapidly building muscle tissue. By taking Dianabol before workout, bodybuilders have been able to produce dramatic results on their body. You may notice that they have increased strength and rapid development of muscle mass.
Dianabol, together with the other steroids, were put under the category of controlled substances because of its list of side effects. Increased heart rate and blood pressure are the common side effects attributed to Dianabol. Water retention and severe acne can also be noticed. Dianabol is a powerful androgen hence it can trigger secondary male characteristics including male pattern baldness, increased facial hair, and temper flares.
But despite the health risks and legal impediments, there are still athletes who continue to use Dianabol. Now that Ciba is no longer producing this drug, Dianabol is still the trade name for the drug. Since Ciba ceased production, underground laboratories have become the primary source of Dianabol. People today however are no longer curious on who developed Dianabol. They are more interested on its advantages in the body.
